Charge Your iPod Nano
3 Everyone loves to get new toys, but before you can start using your iPod, you need to take some steps. Before we start installing software, it's a good idea to open your iPod and plug it into a USB port on your PC. The USB cable is in the box with your iPod. Plugging it in not only charges your iPod, but also keeps your iPod in sync with your PC. More on this in a later step.
Install iTunes
4 Now that your iPod is charging, it's a good time to install iTunes. iTunes will be your multimedia home for your PC and iPod. If you already have iTunes installed on your PC, you may skip this step. iTunes will be used to copy music from your PC to your iPod, purchase music from the iTunes music store, and download music from the internet. More importantly, it will also be used to listen to your LEAP PODCASTS and UPLOAD your EXERCISE DATA. To install iTunes, follow this link and download the latest version from Apple. You may have to reboot your PC based on which operating system you have when you install iTunes. If so, it's not a problem, just come back to this page and continue with step 4 once iTunes is installed.
Note: The first time you run iTunes, it will offer to search your PC for music and add it to your library. If you have any music stored on your PC and you want it on your iPod, then it's a good idea to let iTunes add it automatically.

At your computer, you can make a new playlist by opening iTunes, then click on the word File from the menu bar (or just hit Ctrl-N). When it asks you for a name, type in the word "Leap". Now to add something to your playlist, click "Music" in the top left side of iTunes under Library. Select the song titled "Welcome to Leap" click on the right button of your mouse and select "Add to Playlist" - "Leap", You can also drag the "Welcome to Leap" into the playlist using your mouse.

7 Now that you have some songs on your computer, let's download them to your iPod. It is so easy. Just sync your Nano. You will want to sync your Nano after each workout. After you unplug your Nano and then plug your Nano back into your computer, iTunes will find the Nano and sync automatically. You can also open iTunes and click File-Sync from the iTunes menu. iTunes will see the Nano and sync automatically.
Setup your Nike Transmitter (and Shoe Pouch)
8 It is now time to open up your Nike+ iPod kit. There are two parts to this kit: a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is the oval shaped piece with the Nike Logo on top. This small device counts your steps and transmits your workout data to your Ipod. If you have a pair of Nike+ shoes, there is a slot in the bottom of the inside sole of the left shoe to place the transmitter. If you don't have Nike+ shoes, then you can use the shoe pouch enclosed in your Leap Forward starter kit. Place the transmitter into the shoe pouch (Nike Logo Side Up) and then fasten the shoe pouch to the laces of your favorite running shoes..
Plug your Nike Receiver into your Nano
9 You are almost ready to run! Unplug your Nano from your computer and install the Nike+ receiver (the white square) into the slot in the bottom of your Nano. When you plug this into your Nano, you will see a new menu item appear on your Nano: NIKE+ iPod.
Let's take a Walk! (or run)
10 Put on your shoes and let's go for your first LEAP run. On your iPod, select Nike+ iPod, Basic, then Playlist. Pick the LEAP playlist we made above. Press the center button to begin your workout. Click on the Video to the right to see a demo on the Nike+ menu.
Sync Your Nano again to Upload your Workout Data!
11 Now that you have finished your walk, let's sync your Nano again to upload your exercise data. Just unplug your Nike receiver and plug your Nano back into your computer. iTunes will see the Nano and sync automatically. If this is your first workout, you'll need to create a Nike+ account.
Create a Nike+ Account
12 Since this is your first workout, iTunes will prompt you to create a Nike+ account when you sync your run. Go ahead and create the account. To make things easy, use the same email and password for the Nike site that you used when you registered for your VitaLife Fitness account. This will link the sites automatically.
Get your RUN!
13 This is the last step, just click "Get Runs" (easy to access from the VitaLife Fitness home page) to retrieve your runs into the VitaLife database. Be sure to check out your progress in the New Leapster challenge once you have downloaded your first run.
